Privacy

The short version

• We use your story, your voice answers and your photos only to make your comic.
• Finished comics are public: anyone can read them on Explore. Your story text, photos and character designs are never shown.
• We never sell your data and we don't use advertising trackers.
• You can ask us to delete your comic and photos at any time.

What we collect

• Your story. What you type or say in the interview, the story we write up with you, and the storyboard.
• Your voice. When you talk instead of type, your recording is sent to our speech-to-text provider to turn it into words. We keep the words, not the recording.
• Photos. Photos you upload of you or the people in your story, so we can draw them. You confirm you're allowed to use each photo before uploading.
• The comic. Character designs, panel drawings, lettering and the finished pages.
• A private key in a cookie. A random code stored in your browser that proves the comic is yours. It isn't linked to your name or used for tracking.
• Basic technical logs, such as your IP address, to stop abuse and keep the service running.

We don't ask for your name, email or payment details yet.

Who helps us make your comic

To write and draw your comic, the parts needed for each step are sent to these companies, which process them for us:

• Anthropic (Claude): reads the story, writes the script and checks the drawings.
• OpenAI: draws the pictures and reads interview questions aloud.
• Deepgram: turns your spoken answers into text.

Anthropic and OpenAI don't train their models on what we send them through their business services. Deepgram may use voice recordings to improve its speech recognition, under its model improvement programme. Some of these companies process data outside India.

Explore

Free comics are public. Once your comic is finished and checked, it appears on Explore, where anyone can read it (the cover and every lettered page) and recreate its format with their own story. Your story text, interview answers, photos and character designs are never shown, and only you can edit the comic. Keeping a comic private will be part of paid plans. If there's a comic you need taken down, report it or contact us. Anyone can report a comic on Explore, and reported comics come off Explore while we look at them.

How long we keep things

We keep your comic and photos while you might still want them. Ask us and we'll delete them. Technical logs are kept for a short time only.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to us using it. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Comic World is for people aged 18 and over. Parents and guardians can make comics about their children and upload their photos; please don't upload photos of other people's children without their parent's permission.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top.
